The Diagnostic Labs at the University of Florida provide diagnostic support and services to the UF Veterinary Hospitals as well as outside institutions and animal care facilities.

Anatomic Pathology

The Anatomic Pathology service provides diagnostic services in the areas of necropsy and surgical pathology of domestic and exotic animals. Visit the Anatomic Pathology lab page to learn more about submitting samples to our lab for review and analysis.

Clinical Pathology

The Clinical Pathology service performs hematology, chemistry, endocrinology, urinalysis, fluid analyses, and cytology tests for domestic and exotic species. Visit the Clinical Pathology lab page to learn more about submitting samples to our lab for review and analysis.

Dermatopathology

The University of Florida Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories are pleased to offer a specialized dermatopathology service. The goal of our service is to provide high quality interpretation of animal skin biopsy specimens by pathologists with interest and expertise in dermatopathology. Our team includes 3 dermatopathologists with years of experience in this area.

Microbiology, Parasitology & Serology

The Microbiology, Parasitology, & Serology service isolates bacteria and fungus from a variety of animals, recovers parasite ova and oocysts, and identifies internal and external parasites in order to provide results in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious disease. Molecular Fungal ID

The Molecular Fungal ID service is focused on using molecular assays for identification of fungal organisms in animal tissues. In particular, it runs panfungal PCR and sequencing in formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues and cytology slides.
