The Virology, Microbiology, & Immunology faculty study host range and cross-species transmission of viruses, virus evolution and emergence, as well as wildlife virology. Their research includes food safety issues and a variety of vector-borne diseases, including FIV, West Nile Virus, Chikungunya Virus Disease, and Zika Virus. Other research interests include comparative infectious disease, pathogen evolution, molecular diagnostics, and pathogen discovery.
