COVID–19 and Volunteering
Due to the unprecedented circumstances of the global pandemic, we are currently limiting our volunteer participation. As we cannot meet in person right now, we have postponed our in-person volunteer trainings. However, we still highly depend on our volunteers in many circumstances such as reporting marine mammals or sea turtles in distress, or verifying these reports.
Interested in Volunteering with the Marine Animal Rescue Program?
UF Marine Animal Rescue volunteers can participate in outreach events at local festivals or educational presentations, with rescue events (these usually have no more than a day’s notice), and reporting any distressed or dead manatees, dolphins or whales, and sea turtles. Before participating in a rescue event, volunteers must attend an in-person training and sign the Volunteer Waiver. Provide your contact information using the link below and we’ll inform you of our next trainings and training locations! In the meantime, help us share news of our program from our website or Facebook page!
Volunteer Requirements: You must be at least 18 years old and able to lift 50 pounds.
