About Amanda L James
Dr. James received her veterinary degree from St. George’s University in Grenada in 2021 and simultaneously completed a master’s degree in wildlife conservation. After completing an internship in Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia at Louisiana State University, she moved to Florida in 2023 to start a three-year residency program at the University of Florida. During her residency, she gained experience managing critical cases in domestic and wildlife species. In 2026, she joined the University of Florida as an Assistant Professor in Anesthesiology. Dr. James’ main research interests are locoregional anesthesia, patient safety, and wildlife anesthesia. During her free time, Dr. James enjoys crocheting, trying new recipes, and spending time with friends.
